An exclusive charity Christmas Gala at the luxurious castle and spa hotel, Swinton Park, takes place on December 6 in aid of the Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust.

Set in the 20,000 acre estate in the Yorkshire Dales, the ancestral seat of the Earl of Swinton, Swinton Park offers an informal stately home experience close to the market town of Masham.

The Gala dinner offers a festive three-course candle-lit dinner and Champagne reception, featuring a 25-strong Christmas choir from Yorkshire Voices and the Yorkshire Decibelles.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will be in attendance.

The Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust is doing vital work in schools across the North. To date, it has supported over 73,000 pupils in over 600 schools to complete its Young Leaders Award, an initiative that’s attracted the celebrity backing of TV adventurer, Bear Grylls.

The Award teaches leadership skills and values, supporting young people (aged 5-16) to volunteer and take positive social action within their communities. Mahatma Ghandi’s phrase, ‘be the change you want to see’ is the core value of the Youth Trust.

Dann Finn, CEO of the Archbishop of York Youth Trust, said: “Our Gala dinner taps into the true spirit of Christmas, celebrating the season while giving back to a charity that has meaningful impact on young people’s lives and their futures. Last year, we hosted a similar dinner at Swinton and guests said how it was one of the most beautiful occasions. Swinton Park has a very special festive atmosphere, it is a truly magical setting in winter, with a nostalgic romance with its lake-filled grounds. We promise a warm, festive welcome.”

The charity is seeking to raise £202,500 to put 13,000 students through the award in 2018/19.
